Role Description
As we continue to expand and onboard more clients, we are seeking an experienced Portuguese Financial Services Regulatory Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support and deliver our solutions. We are looking for someone to own regulatory interpretation, compliance analysis, and client-facing issue resolution as part of regulatory technology deployment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong judgement, regulatory fluency, and the ability to work confidently with financial services regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret Portuguese and EU financial services regulatory requirements and articulate them in clear, practical, and operational terms.
- Review and validate extracted regulatory content against primary legal sources, including legislation, regulations, and supervisory guidance.
- Support assessments of regulatory applicability, scope, and obligation relevance for in-scope activities.
- Assist with policy reviews and regulatory gap analysis against applicable requirements.
- Investigate and address regulatory queries, ambiguities, or discrepancies raised by compliance, legal, or risk teams.
- Participate in working sessions, workshops, and targeted deep-dive discussions with key client stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 - 6+ years’ experience in financial services regulation or compliance.
- Native or fluent Portuguese; professional English required.
- Background in law, regulatory compliance, or risk (law degree strongly preferred).
- Experience in either Consulting (Senior Consultant / Manager level), or In-house compliance or legal role at a regulated financial institution.
- Strong working knowledge of Portuguese and EU financial services regulation.
- On-site presence is required at our office and/or client sites based on business needs.
